About the author
Gerard Dowling has been a priest for close on five decades, most of which have been served as a counsellor with Centacare Catholic Family Services. At the same time he managed to function for four years as the Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral Melbourne.
Fr Gerard’s talk back program, The Family Counsellor on AM Radio Sport 927, has been conducted since 1973. In 1985 he received the Medal of the Order of Australiafor services to the community. In 1995 the prestigious American organisation, The Christophers, that fosters Christlike contributions to the Media, awarded him theirMedal of Honour for “affirming the highest values of the human spirit, through his work as a radio counsellor.”
